There are at least 10 boards that could be obliterated and no one would even notice or care.

However, thinking that would increase traffic to other boards is pretty silly. They're pretty much all dead, so it's not like you'd be diverting the traffic from those boards and into others.

However, narrowing the index of boards down to a more reasonable and appropriate number would probably make people feel more naturally inclined to explore those boards rather than feeling overwhelmed or just disinterested.

How 'bout this. Combine all technology boards apart from /swf/, /w/, /v/ and /bt/. No one uses them. Combine /b/, /id/ and /lit/. Combine /ct/ and /m/. Combine all "hacking" boards or get rid of them completely. Everything apart from that is fine.

So that way you end up with 11-12 boards (aside from the Chris-chan ones) instead of 21. It's only a small reduction, but the hueg, insanely specific list of boards is restrictive and intimidating. This way you'd end up with a few main boards (/b/, /m/, /v/ etc) and some of the little specific ones, instead of 21 tiny boards with 0-10 posts on each.

Keep /id/ separate from /b/ and /lit/, /id/ is actually semi-active and the quality of posts would decline if everything was just under one banner of 'OSORANDUMBG'-type faggotry. Nobody ever uses /lit/ so it quite justifiably should be purged.
I'm fine with the other suggestions. And of course add a fucking /int/ board.
