The worst part about summertime on the internet is people complaining about summertime on the internet. The true summerfags are the people who blame all forms of newfaggotry and pretty much anything they don't like on summerfags.

All I know personally is that 4chan (specifically /b/) started to rapidly decline following the summer of 2006 and that /cwc/ starts to get more crappy threads and meme-posters around this time (though, I still wonder if some of it is done in parody or in protest of a perceived influx of 4chan memers). It also goes back to the newsgroup days, where apparently summer was when a lot of new university students started shitting up usenet as a result of gaining access to the internet.
