My dad got an old pocket PC and I found this game on it. It's addictive, so of course I went looking for a version that runs on regular computers. I found a web version and converted it to (hopefully) work on my sister's Archos 5.

It also works in a regular web browser, except for the scoreboard feature. It sounds like it uses cookies to keep track of personal scores, but I'm not sure how to manipulate cookies with html.
Anybody have any idea how to get the cookies working, at least for standard browsers?

For whatever reason, the stlyesheets and javascript don't want to work unless they're embedded in the html, but that's not much of a concern for me.

Reposting because I just noticed there's also a problem with the alternate game modes not working. : /

Well, the widget works on the Archos, aside from the aforementioned issues and about page.

I'm afraid it uses AJAX to access a server side script which handles the High Score.

strangely enough, this game has persistent High scores on the Archos, but never on a computer. Given, I believe it's originally an OSx widget.

Would there be a way to isolate the score saver from this and utilize it with Jawbreaker? I'd like to do the same with the css sprites that Jawbreaker uses, as it would reduce the image overhead for Bubble Trouble. Unfortunately, I can figure out where to reference the sprites in the BT javascript. It seems to be outputting [variable].png and I don't know how to adapt that.

This saves the scores to window.widget, which is undefined in my Firefox, it might be specific to the Archos.
I could try to change the scoring to this in the other, but I cannot test it.

Should I try it?

Go for it. I can test and post results/input.

This should work.
I separated the javascript from the html, you might need to embed it again.

It works, except scores are not persistent between sessions. Is it replacing the old cookie with a blank one each run?

You're right, according to the other game, I fucked up the order of the parameters.
Here, this should work (only uploading the changed script.js).

Doesn't seem to be doing anything different.
With the bubble troube game, I can close the widget and turn off the device and the high score will still be recorded when I load the widget up again.
The jawbreaker one is still creating a new score list each time I open the widget. The scores are persistent during consecutive games, but they are either being discarded on exit or wiped out at launch.

It would also be good if the average score was truncated 2 places after the decimal.

Hopefully this information is helpful.

I stand corrected; apparently I was testing the wrong version.

So it works now?
Good.

Here, try this.

That one's weird. On first run it's fine, but all consequent launches are screwy. It doesn't automatically fill the field when you open it, you have to click on [New Game], and if you check the high scores before/during the first game, they're blank. They load after the first game over (regardless of whether the score table get updated on the first game or not).

The Games Played and Average Score are also glitching. GP isn't counting up, but rather tacking a 1 onto the end. (0 -> 01 -> 011 -> 0111 etc.) Average score seems to count down or something, I can't quite figure out the pattern.

Also, apparently scores over 1000 are discarded.
