I've been thinking of getting a new computer for myself. I have about $1000 saved up, just waiting to be spent. My original thoughts were to buy a Dell XPS 15 laptop with a 1080p screen for around $1100. However, I could get a desktop thats 3x better than that for the same price. Or, I could just finally make my own.

Whats your opinion /g/?

It's super effective!

but srsly, you could probably build that 3x better desktop for about 25% less

For around $600 you could build a desktop that is all you need , you would not have the graphics of a mega dollar box , but who uses that much power anyway. If I can build a tower from parts so can you .

Start with your processor , I say Athalon because they are cheaper than Intel and not a little cheaper. I use Asus mobo's and so far so good.

Good luck If you do this check out http://forums.techguy.org/ it's a great forum and they have a massive library and are glad to help.
