I'm dropping this here because I think it's a brilliant example of initiative, if somewhat malevolent:

tl;dr - A couple of teenagers made a desktop app that claimed to automatically pick winning stocks, but really just picked stocks of companies that gave them money. They made over 1 million USD before being discovered.

Teenagers! How did they convince decision-makers that their scam would work?
