What do you mean by folk?

Do you mean the pop genre called folk, where the artists write pop music and just give it nationalist characteristics, like Celtic Women most of the time?

Do you mean filk music, like much of the music of the soviet union or things like Marzy Doats?

Do you mean former pop/art songs that are famous enough and well known, that people call them folk, like the main variation of the theme from Beethoven's 9th symph, 4th movement (Freude, schöner Götterfunken, Töchter aus Elysium...)?


Do you mean folkloric music, like the other half of soviet music or things like Altain, Hannes Wader, or Loituma?


Or do you mean real folk music, like the kind you'll find in some backwards hyper-under-/mal-developed part of Africa or Papua New Guinea?
