OP, I hate you. That was some of the preachiest music I have ever heard. Granted the music wasn't bad and the vocals were good, but the message was like a sledgehammer to my face. Awful. I'm glad I downloaded it because I'm not buying that crap ever.

Well, to be fair, what'd you expect? The Lorax is basically An Inconvenient Truth for kids; except instead of presenting facts and figures it tells a fictional "worst-case scenario" story with fantasy characters. I don't mean to knock Dr. Seuss, his heart was in the right place, but you have to know that something like this being interpreted for the big screen in the era of "Go Green" is going to be a massive load of steaming pretentiousness.

And I haven't even seen the movie.

Well, to be fair to Seuss, he was writing for a very young demographic. He just needed to get the basic idea across without confusing the readership with the subtle nuances of reality.

The filmmakers, on the other hand, knew full well the broader age range of their audience. They miscalculated the market and thought they would be rewarded by trying to top Wall-E in the social awareness department. At least Wall-E managed to get the formula right. 80% story, 20% message. The Lorax, by all accounts, reversed that and got bad reviews from all sides. And if the music is anything to go by, the filmmakers deserved it.
