I know it's stupid, but I'm really looking forward to this.

Is it just me, or do action movies of late seem to have this "fuck everything, just go as crazy as you can" thing to them now? Not that I'm complaining.

It's the blockbuster mentality. Throw lots of action on the screen and nothing else has to make sense. 'Die Hard' was among the best action films because there were moments where you could take a breath. There was a character that you spent enough time with to care about, and there was some witty writing. It wasn't Shakespeare to be sure, but it wasn't loud for the sake of loud, either.

Yeah, but constant goofy action, if done well and not like a 1980's "so bad it's good" film can be a good movie as well, for different reasons.
