Speaking of bringing back old stories, Chloe Moretz (of Kick-Ass fame) is set to play Carrie, from the Stephen King novel.

It's just the cycle of things. Remember "American Graffiti" and "THX 1138"? What about "The Godfather"? Those films were made back in the day because the studios suddenly realized they had no idea what to do to make people want to see movies again. So they found a bunch of kids, threw them some money and said, "Make Something". Those kids were Stephen Spielberg, George Lucas, Francis Ford Coppola and others.

Right now, studios are in the same boat. They've lost touch with what makes films great, but they haven't realized that they need to make that bold creative turn. They will. Eventually. Then some great stuff will come out. And then the cycle will start over.
