So I wanna know about docks. Is there such a thing as dock for nix that is not just a thing to get at your Applications, Places, and System menus plus a few quick launch icons. Is there one that also acts as a system tray/date-time thing, plus a taskbar? With my habits I rely heavily on the system tray applets and the taskbar, but I want to use a dock and only a dock. Can I do this?

dreamlinux is the only distribution off the top of my head that has a dock, maybe you can get rid of the system bar or hide it or something

Programs aren't exclusive to distributions. The dock you are looking for is called Cairo. Most Linux distros have it in their repositories.
