So, what is a well made, pre-configued distro with everything I would ever need for the production, creation, and recording of music?

Good question. The general consensus seems to be that audio is done either with Mac or Windows if no Mac is available. But even those aren't a package set. Audacity can be used as a mixing program, but my experience has been that it locks up the system for long periods of time if you're trying to mix 3 or more streams. That could be a resource issue on my part though, being an older machine. Aside from that, the interface is still fairly buggy and I often end up going back to using GoldWave through WINE for cutting, pasting and noise reduction.

OSS has a ways to go before it can compete in the audio production field. There's a reason those kind of programs cost so much money...

At least we've got graphics manipulation working for us.

I use ubuntu studio... I like it.

Used to use Ubuntu Studio, but then switched to AV Linux and never looked back. With all the dumb shit that Ubuntu has done over the past year, I've given up on it completely.
