So /v/, good idea or horrible flop?

If you don't know, this is the new Spyro game "Skylanders." Along with the game comes a dock where you can place a figure. This figure becomes your character on screen and stores all the stats you give it. Three figures come with the starter pack and you can buy more -- it's like downloadable content but physical. Having extra figures isn't required to get 100% completion as far as I know, it just changes how you play.

The Activision staff has gotten death threats over this game from angry fans. This video alone has 101 likes versus 735 dislikes because, as the comments say, "New Spyro is ugly >:(" and "Spyro was my first game I ever played when I was 4-5 idk and now it is the last game I will ever by in my entire life!"

It looks pretty decent in my opinion. It's gimmicky, for sure, but I think the majority of the rage is from people realizing that they're getting older, things are changing and that Spyro is, in fact, a kid's game. What do you think?
